If you’re a foodie as I am, then you already know that Hawaii has some pretty unique foods and dishes.
Here are a few of my favorites.
These fried dumpling are called Crispy Gau Gee, very popular served as either an appetizer as you see above, or in Noodle dishes.
You’ll find this in the produce section of any grocery store in Hawaii, but not here in Cowboyville I’m afraid.
So I make my own when I need some for say my Fried Saimin. It’s quite simple, shredded Green Cabbage, Carrots and Mung Bean Sprouts.
Kahuku Corn. This is hands down the best Corn you’ll ever have.
This is a fruit that in Hawaii we call Mountain Apple. These grow in so many folk yards and they will put out boxes filled with them with a sign on it “free”.
S&S Saimin. No, this is nothing like Ramen. This noodle is unique to Hawaii.
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile now, you’ll be familiar with these crackers. Diamond Bakery Soda Crackers, the best!
